Introduction to Coding
[Beginner Level] No prior knowledge needed.
For our little ones, we will explore Scratch programming where we incorporate games and animations to make coding fun and engaging!
Main Takeaway
- Understand how a code runs, and the different ways to build a program.
- Build puzzle-solving skills with the help of online coding games.
- Explore creativity when building code blocks from scratch
We will be using a free block-based visual programming platform - Scratch

L1. Applications of Coding
Introduce daily applications of coding that are relatable to children to kickstart their interest. They will learn the important programming terms with easy-to-digest metaphors.
L2. Variables and Arrays
Different types of variables will be discussed with examples. The concept of arrays will be introduced with an interactive activity.
L3. Operators
Learn about the different operators in code and reinforce their learning with in-class activities.
L3. If-else statements
Learn about the implementation of decision making in code. Explore the wide range of uses for conditional statements.
L5. Loops
Learn about for loops and how to use them in code. We will illustrate some scenarios, where for loops are required in different applications.
L6. Introduction to Scratch
Scratch is a block-based coding platform, which is great for kids. They will be linking different code blocks together to form an executable program.
